Ah, the Iron Maiden live show: a veritable treasure trove of awesome. Over the last 45 years or so we’ve been treated to all manner of epic stage sets, walk-on Eddies and giant stage Eddies too.
So as I was decorating a Lego stage set for a Grab A Stack Of Rock image, naturally my thoughts wandered to the possibility of building a stage Eddie for the back.
My first thoughts went to the Powerslave/World Slavery Tour Eddie as that was the stage set I was modelling mine after. But one minute later and I was putting light bluish-grey and medium nougat pieces together. With every piece added it became more and more clear I had the potential for something here.
And suddenly what had started out as a bit of fun playing around with Lego bricks very quickly turned into a serious build as I honed and refined Eddie’s appearance with the bricks I had.
So here’s the very image in question that started it all.

Came out pretty good I think. So let’s take a closer look at it. Here’s the front view in more neutral lighting.

Here’s the three-quarter views from each side.

Now here’s the rear view. Not as glamorous as the others admittedly, but thankfully it doesn’t have to be.

Here’s the top with a drum set added, emulating the inflatable that surrounded the drum riser during certain songs.

So how does it compare to the real thing? Well take a look below to see a comparison between the blocks and the reference image I used. Truthfully I think the only weak point is that I couldn’t pull off is the left eye with as much finesse as the real thing.

And lastly, for a bit of fun, here’s an unimpressed cat as I documented a progress shot.

So what do you think? Let me know down below. And are there any other stage Eddie heads you’d like me to tackle? I’m know I’m personally itching to have a go at the AMOLAD tank Eddie…
